The Coach
Laura Wightman, MSN, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL is a nurse who became a leader early in her career. She has served in a variety of leadership roles including administrator, chief nursing officer, and system senior executive. While healthcare operations is her expertise, the development of people has always been a priority for her. She became an executive coach in 2009 which allowed her to effectively coach leaders within her organization. Laura earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. The focus of her doctoral work was talent management. She has earned certification from Brene Brown and Stewart Leadership in addition to being a certified nurse executive. To add to her coaching toolbox, she engaged in Equus coach training through the Center for Equus Coaching. This allows her to offer equine assisted coaching sessions.
She has served in academic positions at Grand Valley State and Saginaw State Universities in Michigan and Washington University in Saint Louis. This experience has honed her adult learning skills.
In 2022, Laura started Red Clover Leadership, LLC to expand her coaching practice and offer consultation. The mission of her business is “Transforming organizations and people with the wisdom of horses”.
Laura is also an author and speaker.
Foundational Programs, Training & Education
The coaching practices, core competencies, and code of ethics of Red Clover Leadership are aligned with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). The ICF provides practice standards and core competencies for coaches. Additionally, they provide a robust continuing education platform to help coaches grow in their practice. The “human” coaches of Red Clover Leadership are dedicated to meeting the standards, competencies, and ongoing development required by the ICF.
Additionally, Laura has completed countless formal coach training programs and completed doctoral studies in talent management that inspire her approach, most notably:
- Brene’ Brown Dare to Lead certified
- Cornell University Psychology of Leadership certificate
- Lean/Six Sigma Certified (Greenbelt)
