Frequently Asked Questions

What is Equus Coaching? How is it different than the coaching sessions I’ve done in the past?

Coaching sessions can occur in-person, by phone, or virtually. The Equus coaching sessions are in person with a horse co-facilitator. Most of the work that occurs through coaching is the same regardless of the format in which it is delivered. However, with Equus coaching, you getting a little dusty and smell like a horse when you are done!

Do you only do Equus coaching, or can I work with you for coaching sessions over video, phone, or in-person without horses?

Coaching can occur by phone, virtually, or in-person. Laura has coached since 2012 using the traditional formats for coaching.

What are your coaching credentials and experience?

If I do an Equus coaching session, do I have to have experience with horses? What if I’m a little intimidated by horses?

No experience with horses is necessary. We have a variety of shapes and sizes of horse facilitators, we will find one that makes you comfortable! Additionally, the coach can stand with you during the experience to increase your comfort.

Is Equus Coaching safe?

Working with horses has some inherent risk. However, horses that serve as co-facilitators have had substantial training and experience in interacting with people. A safety demonstration is provided before the session to decrease your risk of any injury.

I’m interested in your services, but I think I need a blend of a few of the services offered. Can you work with me on a more custom approach?

Yes, we prefer a custom approach. Red Clover Leadership offers a variety of services that can be fit together – like a puzzle – to meet the client’s needs.

How much does a coaching session cost?

The cost of the session depends on the format selected and number of clients involved. There is generally a free exploratory call followed by a minimum of three sessions. Reduced rates are offered for frontline healthcare professionals and leaders.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned as a leader?

Soft skills matter! Soft skills are interpersonal skills often described by sociologists as a person’s emotional intelligence or “EQ” (versus “IQ” which is intelligence quotient). Compassion, empathy, global listening skills, authenticity, self-awareness, and social awareness are examples.
